Nancy Poole, Founder/President

Ms. Poole founded Strand College of Hair Design in March of 1993. Ms. Poole has been in education for over 25 years and is licensed in South and North Carolina as a cosmetologist and a cosmetology Instructor. Besides her education in cosmetology, Ms. Poole has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration and Political Science, as well as a Masters of Arts Degree in Human Relations and Conflict Resolution from Columbia College. She also attended Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina. Ms. Poole serves on the Georgetown Hospital System Foundation Board, and as an advisor and on the IRC for the South Carolina Board of Cosmetology. She has also been acknowledged for her work and various contributions for Habitat for Humanity, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Toys for Tots, and her work in church as well as assisting local community kitchens. She has served previously as a member to the Pivot Point Advisor Board. Ms. Poole is presently the president of SCALP Associations which provides advanced and continuing education. She is also approved by the South Carolina Board of Cosmetology to teach the 45 Hour Methods of Training.
Further studies include training as a Pivot Point Instructor, Milady Instructor Education, and numerous advanced color classes with Roy Peters. She has also written a book about conflict resolution in the cosmetology industry and is in the process of writing her second book, an instructional text book for Instructors and Students.

Patricia Greer, Instructor

Ms. Greer came to Strand College of Hair Design with 32 years in the beauty industry. After several years behind the chair she opened her own salon and then went into the teaching field. Ms. Greer expanded her duration at the University of Virginia, courses in communications, motivation, human relations, market and business. Further studies include “Advanced Training Salon Development” and “How to build Salon Business” with Michael Cole and advanced training with Winn Claybaugh, co/founder of the Paul Mitchell Schools. She has always continued her education at local, regional, and international shows and seminars. She is an expert in all phases of cosmetology, and her knowledge, integrity and expertise is a plus for our school.
She is active in a verity of civic organizations and was recognized in 2010 with the volunteer of the year award for Horry County.

Katie MacRae, Instructor

Miss. MacRae has been in the cosmetology industry for five years working behind the chair. She went into the teaching field two years ago and enjoys being able to share her knowledge with others. Miss. MacRae has attended numerous continuing education classes and hair shows. She has also attended Horry-Georgetown Technical college for Business and Marketing classes.
